Did you notice, we now have a sidebar on the right. The left sidebar now has only the navigation, and all other sidebar-type materials are now on the right. Whoopee.... |

There have been many updates to the web site. Aside from the new Welcome message on the front page, there is a new version of the Copious Code available (see Members Only), and I've transferred the public biographies from the old site (see Public Bios). There are many other minor tweaks and updates throughout the site. Major ones will be announced here. |

Our very own newsletter, Capital M, has won the Publications Recognition Program award in the category of Mensa Awareness! This is awarded for keeping the members informed about what's going on in Mensa, such as the News from National extracts from assorted mailing lists, the RVC's column, columns from assorted officers, and of course our calendar and other local news. |

Local member Heather Poirier, well known for her activities with the Gen-X SIG, has been re-elected as Secretary of the American Mensa Committee (the ruling body of AML, American Mensa Limited). Either way it would have been a local member, as her opponent was our LocSec, Jared Levine. In related news, RVC2 (Regional Vice Chair, Region 2) Marc Lederman has also been re-elected. |

Two of our own have been nominated in the Publications Recognition Program.
Unsurprisingly, one is the person in charge of our publications, recently-former Capital M Editor, Dave Aronson, nominated for his work on Capital M in the categories of Member Recognition and Mensa Awareness. (I can recognize several percent of our members on sight the first time, and have certainly heard of Mensa.)
Also nominated is our LocSec Jared Levine, in particular for his LocSec column in the June 2010 issue. |

Since last time this web site has been updated, have a new Programs Officer, a new Editor for the Capital M, a new Webmaster for mwm.org, a new Gifted Children's Coordinator, and even a deputy for her! We are also in need of several volunteers.
- The new Editor, probably the single most important job in all of MWM, starting with the June issue, is Colby Hostettler, replacing Dave Aronson.
- The new Programs Officer, probably the second most important job in MWM, is Mark Chang. He replaces Ben Paul, who replaced A. M. Paulos, who was elected.
- The new Webmaster is the outgoing Editor, and still Publications Officer, Dave Aronson. He hopes to transition the public parts of the web site to Google Sites, so that it is easier to maintain -- not only for himself but for future webmasters, who don't need to be skilled in the black arts of PHP (which he is just now learning anyway).
- The new Gifted Children's Coordinator is Donna Campbell, assisted by Lisa Murphy.
We are in need of new Testing Coordinator or Proctor Coordinator (the latter can only be done by those who qualify as a Proctor themselves), a Volunteer Coordinator, and could also use a second volunteer for Maryland Area Coordinator. To volunteer, contact LocSec Jared Levine... especially to be a Volunteer Coordinator. :-) |
