Obtaining the Event Calendar

• The monthly Capital M newsletter contains the MWM calendar of events.  All MWM members receive CapM unless they have opted out of the printed copy.
• A pdf copy of the Capital M can be downloaded (by paid up members) at www.us.mensa.org/newsletters. Log in with your membership number and password. (Contact Mensa national at (817) 607-0060 or via e-mail at AmericanMensa@mensa.org.) Once logged in on the Mensa site, click on the drop-down box "Please select a newsletter". Then click on "Capital M", then on "Display". Below the 'Display' box a list of months will appear. Click on the edition you want.

Posting to the Calendar

Metropolitan Washington Mensa's calendar is coordinated and maintained by Programs Officer Leslie Carroll. The deadline for getting calendar entries to Leslie is the 7th of each month, in order to be published in the next month's CAPM Newsletter.

Calendar Updates

The MWM Programs Officer maintains a mailing list for day-to-day changes and additions to the group's schedule. It's a Yahoo! group known as MWM Calendar . You don't need to be a member of MWM or Mensa to join this calendar e-list. Click here to sign up to receive calendar information and updates.

New Members Open House

New, old, and prospective members get together monthly at our New Members Open House, normally held on the last Sunday afternoon of each month.  Metropolitan Washington Mensa serves the greater D.C. area--the District of Columbia, the nearby suburbs of Montgomery and Prince George's County, Maryland, and the nearby suburbs of Alexandria, Arlington, and Fairfax County, Virginia - and parts of West Virginia. MWM rotates these Gatherings among Maryland, Virginia, and the District.

Annual and Regional Gatherings

• Our last RG, "Early Cinco De Mayo: A Mensa Fiesta" was held May 2-4, 2008 in Gaithersburg, MD. The RG is a joint effort of MWM and Maryland Mensa.
• Our last RG was MWM and Maryland Mensa's joint "M-Counter Intelligence" was held Memorial Day weekend, May 25-27, 2007 in Maryland at the Laurel West Holiday Inn. Photos of the event for your enjoyment
• Our 2004 Hearts Afire RG, was on Valentine's Day weekend at Dulles in 2004
• The 2002 Regional Gathering, Rootin' Tootin' Hootenanny, was in January 2002 at Dulles
• The The Y2K Solution Regional Gathering was in January 2000 at Laurel, MD
• American Mensa normally holds an Annual Gathering each year on the weekend nearest the Fourth of July.
• The last Annual Gathering "Rocky Mountain High-IQ" was held in Denver, Colorado July 2-6, 2008
• The 2007 Annual Gathering was held in Birmingham, Alabama July 4-8
• The 2006 American Mensa gathering was combined with the World Gathering, and was held at Disneyland in Orlando Florida August 8-13
• The 2005 Annual Gathering was held in New Orleans, Louisiana
• The 2004 AG "Las Vegas ExtravAGanza", took place at the Paris Las Vegas on the famous Strip
• The 2003 Annual Gathering, "Light Up The North", was in St. Paul, Minnesota
• The 2002 AG, "Desert Delights", was in Scottsdale, Arizona
